FALL QUARTER

Alumni Advance 2010

The 2010 - 2011 OHSU Dietetic Interns took different roles in organizing this event. I was apart of the design team, and worked on building the "set" for the event. I also took a part in organizing the raffle, and designing the layout and floor plan. I organized and took a role in taking care of last minute details a few days before the event took place. This event went off very well, and overall, guests were very pleased. 

WINTER QUARTER

Registered Dietitian Day at the Capitol

Our class of dietetic interns went to the State capitol in Salem, Oregon for Registered Dietitian day. We organized with a group of registered dietitians from Oregon to meet with representatives and senators about nutrition-related bills. We primarily focused on the Farm to School Bill, and made sure to inform the state legislators about the benefits which this bill could provide children, local farmers, and the local economy. This was a great opportunity to gain experience becoming involved in local government.

SPRING QUARTER

Oregon Dietetic Association Meeting

Members of the Oregon Dietetic Association had their annual meeting May 6, 2011 in Willsonville, Oregon. This event was titled "Creating Connections" and interns/students were encouraged to network with Registered Dietitians. Our day consisted of several interesting lectures with topics ranging from "Inflammation and Nutrtion in the Critical Care Setting", to "The Obesity Epidemic in Children". This event provided all attenders with a lot of information which was informative and applicable to daily practice as an RD.
